Students are trained in traditional folk dances and classical royal court dances, both of which incorporate intricate hand gestures, and body postures. Students learn the significance of each gesture and the symbolism behind each through basic warm up exercises and dances that serve as the foundation for Cambodian dance. Students are grouped by age and/or ability. Students participate in the Cambodian New Year celebration showcasing their hard work to families, friends and the broader MD/VA/DC region.. The Cambodian New Year celebration is held every year in April & is the program's biggest event, bringing out over 5,000 Cambodians-Americans and other visitors to the Cambodian Buddhist Temple in Silver Spring, Maryland.
